When faced with a water damage loss, taking good pictures can make or break an insurance case.  Photos provide invaluable evidence that can speak better than words when you have water or fire damage.

Ideally you would have before as well as after damage  pictures.  Taking pictures of your property both inside and out on a quarterly basis can be invaluable if you ever have to file a water damage or fire damage claim.  

Insurance will take their own pictures if they send an adjuster.  Without your own pictures, your claim may compensate less than what you would otherwise receive if you had evidence or even be denied.  Being able to show that damage is new and not pre-existing can help you overturn a denial or a limited scope, especially with those issues that are not immediately obvious.

Videos are also a great tool.  Be sure to show your property address.  Make sure your video clips are short and that they are time stamped. Document, document, document!
